While most Americans are watching football, many around the world enjoy playing cricket. The British sport is played on almost every continent, so it shouldn’t be surprising that there is a Mega Drive version. It also shouldn’t be surprising that it wasn’t released in the U.S. Still, it’s an excellent rendition and a great chance for Genesis owners to learn about this unique and engaging game.

Among the many Genesis soccer games is a title that was never released in North America. Total Football is a competent game that may be worth closer examination, but its quirky control scheme and sub-par feature list may keep more diehard fans glued to their copies of FIFA and Sensible Soccer.
J. League Pro Striker Perfect
Soccer is a sport that’s loved worldwide, and the Genesis is far from lacking in games that let players digitally represent their homelands. Many games are light on options and depth, though, and J. League Pro Striker Perfect is a perfect example of that. The fact that this is the update of a previous game only makes us want to play FIFA or Sensible Soccer more.
FIFA International Soccer
The World Cup may be over, but there’s plenty of soccer action to be found on the Genesis. EA sports has you covered with the first installment in its long-running FIFA series. This is the one that started it all! Later entries may have eclipsed it, but it was here that the groundwork was set, and it introduced four-player gameplay to the series.
FIFA ’98: Road to the World Cup
EA’s FIFA series has been around for quite some time, and while each year brings a guaranteed new installment, the upgrades aren’t always for the better (just ask Madden fans). Road to the World Cup tries some new things, but it ultimately seems like a step back from earlier versions.
