Wild Woody
Wild Woody is a game most people have probably never heard of. A late Sega CD platformer that debuted into bargain bins, it features frustrating control and one of the oddest (putting it mildly) game characters around. Woody is a pencil who… how do I say this… um, erases his enemies with his butt.
Ax Battler: A Legend of Golden Axe
Most everyone loves the Golden Axe series. The main trilogy is considered sacred by hack-‘n-slash fans, but all cringe when talk of the spin-offs comes up. For some reason, Sega was never able to really capture the same magic (vases) with later outings, and most of what’s out there is better left untouched. Case in point: Ax Battler: A Legend of Golden Axe for the Game Gear. Is it trying to be like Zelda II? If so, we don’t think Link has too much to worry about with this one.
Masked Rider: Kamen Rider ZO
If you love the Power Rangers, then you’ve undoubtedly tried out their Sega CD game. Fans of campy Japanese fighting shows should also give Masked Rider: Kame Rider ZO a try, if only for the voice work. There’s some serious FMV action going on here, though it might not hold your interest for long. Even so, it’s worth a whirl in the ol’ CD if you can find a copy cheap.
Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: The Movie
Go go Power Rangers! The group that has been kicking butt since 1993, and every console since then has had at least one game in the franchise. The Genesis and Sega CD got a few, including an adaptation of the popular first film. Does it do justice to the source material? You’ll have to read our full review to find out!
