Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (Game Gear)
Sonic’s adventures on the Game Gear tend to be underappreciated, and that’s a shame. Far more than mere ports, they’re solid platforming goodness that Sega fans should take some time to enjoy. His second outing is one of the handheld’s classic titles that captures all the charm and action of its 16-bit sibling.
Royal Stone: Hirakareshi Toki no Tobira
The Game Gear is chock full of great RPGs, and some of them never left Japan. Royal Stone, the sequel to Crystal Warriors, is one game that got left behind. It’s an incredible strategy/RPG with beautiful presentation and engaging gameplay. And it’s now been translated into English! Game Gear owners everywhere need to track down this incredible title.

The classic Berenstain Bears made two appearances in the “Sega Club” line of children’s games for the Genesis and Game Gear, and both titles are fun little romps, with the Game Gear version being the more engaging of the two. Simple to play but not as easy as one would expect from a children’s game, it’s well suited for Sega’s portable.
Miracle Warriors: Seal of the Dark Lord
The Master System is not known for a wide selection of RPGs, but some actually get passed over in favor of more recognized titles. Miracle Warriors is such title, having spent decades in the shadows of Phantasy Star and Ys. While it is far from their level of quality, there is actually a decent game under some unforgiving RPG mechanics.
