Sega Rally Championship

Sega wowed Saturn owners with a stellar rendition of its arcade monster, Sega Rally. Boasting impressive visuals, excellent gameplay, and an incredible soundtrack, it was enough to keep owners glued to their consoles for hours at a time. Coupled with the Arcade Racer wheel, Sega Rally is the perfect Saturn racing game.

Fighters Megamix

Sega took the best of its fighting game efforts and molded them into one of the best brawlers of the 32-bit era (or any, for that matter). A huge cast of characters from Fighting Vipers, Virtua Fighter, and even Virtua Cop come together to create one incredible battle experience. Have a Saturn? Then simply put, you need this game.

Astal

Astal was a welcome release for Saturn owners starving for new games. It also hinted at what could have been an amazing upgrade for 2D games on the new 32-bit machine. While it has its flaws, it remains a fun action platformer that boasts decent gameplay, some stunning visuals, and a stellar soundtrack.

Galactic Attack

The Saturn has a robust selection of shooters, but relatively few of them left Japan. One that people should definitely examine is Galactic Attack, known as Layer Section in Japan, a vertically-scrolling affair with lock-on attacks. It’s a solid port that has some great action, crisp visuals, and a great soundtrack.

Burning Rangers

One of the final Saturn releases was also one of its most original. Taking the action genre in a a new direction, Sonic Team had players take the role of a futuristic rescue team in a game that pushed Sega’s 32-bit hardware to its limit. Burning Rangers is both a technological achievement and a lot of fun.
