Terminator

Virgin Games was entrusted with bringing to the Genesis James Cameron’s apocalyptic vision of a man fighting to avoid the death of the one person who could prevent world domination by ruthless machines. In addition to the cartridge game, versions of Terminator were released for the Sega CD and Game Gear, both of which turned out pretty darn good.

Terminator (CD)

Virgin Games produced some quality licensed software during the 16-bit era, and it complimented hits like Aladdin and The Lion King with a great version of James Cameron’s masterpiece The Terminator. As Kyle Reese, players battle through both the present and the future in their quest to save the innocent Sara Conner from the evil cyborg out to kill her. Sega CD owners got treated to a stellar Tommy Tallarico soundtrack, extra levels, and all around solid gameplay.

Alien Storm

Hot on the heels of the classic Golden Axe series, Sega unleashed Alien Storm upon the arcade scene. It was a game that attempted to add to an already solid formula, and overall made a decent attempt. The Genesis version remains a fan favorite to this day, and hopefully Sega will soon rise from its stupor and give us a proper sequel. Until then, you’ll have to get by with our review of the cartridge version.

Sunset Riders

Sunset Riders is the port of a 1991 Konami arcade game of the same name. It sports two different cowboys to choose from, each with their own advantages and disadvantages, 8 levels of frantic gunning, and three levels of difficulty. Sounds pretty good, eh? And it is…mostly.
