Preview: Star Odyssey
Almost twenty years ago, the now-defunct Genesis publisher Sage’s Creation announced the localization of a highly anticipated Japanese Genesis RPG. Blue Almanac was slated to arrive in America as the re-christined Star Odyssey, but the company left the industry before the game was released. For two decades, it languished in obscurity, until it was recently rescued by Super Fighter Team. The translation has been cleaned up, game-crashing bugs have been fixed, and now Star Odyssey is finally leaving Japan! We have a full preview of this historic game, which marks the first licensed Japanese title to be released outside of that country in more than fifteen years. Read the article and discover an adventure that is finally making its way westward!
Preview: Sonic Colors (Nintendo Wii)
2010 marks yet another yearly effort by Sega to revitalize the Sonic franchise, and the company kicked things off last month with the release of Sonic The Hedgehog 4. November will see the debut of a new title called Sonic Colors, which looks to expand upon the type of gameplay we saw in the Sonic levels of Sonic Unleashed. To find out how things are coming along, spunky Sega-16 staffer Sebastian Sponsel (say that 3 times fast with a mouth full of marbles!) headed over to Sega Europe to give the Wii version a good hands-on. Read his full preview and see how the next step in hedgehog evolution is shaping up.
Preview: Rocket Knight
After almost two decades away from the limelight, Konami’s Rocket Knight series blasts back into action in a new game for Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network, and Steam (PC). This new sequel retains the classic 2D gameplay of the previous two games, but it brings a modern coat of paint to the visuals. The “2.5” look marks a new style for the series, and we’ve got a complete preview of it for you to check out before the game hits May 12. Did we mention we also chatted with the game’s associate producer? Well, what are you waiting for then? Read the article and see why great heroes never die; they just play possum.
Preview: Road Avenger Novel
Penned by author Mary Margaret Park and given the full blessing of G-Mode (the holder of most of the defunct Data East’s franchises), the Road Avenger novel is slated to burn rubber into bookstores sometime next year. We managed to avoid SCUM patrols long enough to get our hands on a preview of the book, and our impressions are now available for all to see. Read the full article and get ready for some driving action!
