NFL ’98

The final Sega-made football game on the Genesis drops the high price endorsements but maintains the tradition of its predecessors, and it offers a great way to get your 16-bit football fix. Solid gameplay and excellent presentation offer compelling competition to EA’s Madden.

NHL ’98

EA’s NHL series had one last outing before departing for 32-bit waters, and the final installment ranks among the best. A compilation of all his 16-bit outings (sans Sonic 3D Blast), the game also boasted a fully 3D world that could be explored. It was mostly just a cool way to travel between different game options, but it set the precedent for Sonic’s evolution.
