Virtua Racing Deluxe was way better than the Genesis version and was very close to the arcade Virtua Racing minus just a few features. Some new stuff has been added to make this a better overall game though, and while racing fans might not get all the features they expect from a racing sim, there are some things here that will keep them interested.
The early ’90s wasn’t a safe place for Saturday morning cartoons. The three major networks were beginning to lose interest in keeping the tradition alive, and many great shows unfortunatley saw an early end. Exo-Squad was one show that disappeared seemingly overnight, and all we were left with were some awesome toys, great memories… and a Genesis game!
Being a fireman isn’t easy, and let me tell you, playing a FMV game about one is no picnic either! Though you’re safe from the heat, it’s hell on your fingers as you struggle to press the correct command in time! Seriously, another one of Sega’s full-motion releases for the Genesis CD add-n, Fahrenheit wasn’t that bad a game, and Sega was nice enough to include a much cleaner 32XCD version along with the stock CD game for the same price.
Virgin Games is a company most Genesis owners associate with mega hit Aladdin, David Perry’s masterpiece of animation and visual excellence. The company did indeed have a knack for recreating the Disney magic, and one of the more overlooked titles in its repertoire is Pinocchio. Decidedly easier and lower key than Aladdin and the Lion King, it nonetheless featured most of the elements that made those titles so great.
When you think full-motion video games, only one piece of hardware comes to mind: the Sega CD. It boasts perhaps the largest selection of FMV titles, and not all of them are as bad as their reputation would have you believe. Some are actually pretty fun, even funny. Take Wirehead, for example. Cheesy and full of groan-inducing moments, it’s humorous enough to keep you engaged until the end.
