The NES classic pummels its way onto the Game Gear, but it seems like this port is what took a beating. Playing far worse than the 8-bit and Genesis versions, Battletoads on the Game Gear is devoid of everything that made the series so much fun. Another example of what happens when a series is farmed out to a different developer.
SegaSonic The Hedgehog was one of the few games in the franchise to not see a home release, due to its trackball control scheme. Thankfully, it can still be played via emulation in MAME. Adults might not find a lot to spend time with here, and honestly, their kids won’t find much to do after spending some time with it. Short and simple, Thomas just runs out of steam too quickly.

The Shining games are some of Sega’s most beloved franchises, and there have been many great releases. The Game Gear was a big part of this, with an excellent entry in the classic Shining Force series. Everything that made fans fall in love with these engrossing strategy/RPGs on the Genesis has made the transition intact. This is definitely one to play.
