Who doesn’t like Micro Machines? Simple, yet incredibly addictive, Codemasters beloved series reached legendary heights with the introduction of the ingenius J-Cart, which allowed up to four people to enjoy the fun. While not as ambitious as those later installments, the original game still holds its own against the competition and is more than worth the purchase price.
Based on the suprisingly successful Stallone movie of the same name, it’s your run-of-the-mill cash run that lacks all the creativity and fun we’ve come to expect from most licensed titles. We’ve a full review for you, so take a deep breath and read on gentle gamer.
The Genesis saw its fair share of computer ports, especially of the Amiga kind, due to the similarities in hardware. Psygnosis took great advantage of this easy avenue in porting, and it released many of its wares on the console. It was also one of the few developers to embrace the then-struggling Sega CD, and a good portion of its catalogue appeared there as well. Puggsy was one such title, and it received a cg-rendered introduction, as well as an enhanced soundtrack.
With all the great sports games on the Genesis, it’s easy to overlook a game like Championship Bowling. Not really considered a system-seller, most people would just pass over it on the shelf. Those who do so would be missing out on a competent little title that offers some simple fun for up to four players. Just about every console has had a bowling game and for good reason.
The original Blaster Master was something of a NES favorite, and Genesis fans were understandably jubilant when the sequel was announced for their beloved console. Imagining Jason roaming with SOPHIA through beautiful 16-bit backdrops and fighting majestic bosses seemed like a dream come true. Much to everyone’s dismay, the game failed to live up to its predecessor, and while not a bad game per se, it’s definitely lacking.
