Shi Kin Joh

Sometimes, you find a game that seemed to completely escape you, and when you finally play it, it’s great. Sunsoft’s Shi Kin Joh is a perfect example of this. A cool Japanese maze game, it was actually compatible with the short-lived Mega Modem in Japan. Things like this make me that much angrier when I think of all the cool stuff we missed out on.

Beast Wrestler

If you were a Genesis-owning wrestling fan during the first two years or so of the console’s life, you most likely spent a lot of time in a bad mood. First, after being teased for months with Sega’s Wrestle War, you were quietly let down when the game never came stateside. Then, the only game even resembling a wrestling title was Renovation’s Beast Wrestler, which was in no way a substitute. Yeah, it’s that bad.

John Madden Football ’92

Electronic Arts rose to sports prominence on the back of a hall of fame coach, and the ’92 edition of John Madden Football added some much-needed features. Unfortunately, it still didn’t have the actual players or team names. But hey, a rose is a rose, right? Read our full review and get ready for some pigskin action!

Dino Land

Despite all the advancements in game technology, pinball is still a blast to play. The Genesis has its fair share of games in the genre, and some are weirder than others. Take Renovation’s Dinoland, for example. Designed by the famous Wolfteam, it features a little dinosaur who takes ball form to save his girlfriend. Sound far fetched? Well, it’s probably no more odd than a hedgehog pinging around a ball field.
