Summer is over! It’s time to return to inside activities, and what’s better than playing Sega? So many great consoles, and so many great games; there’s no way you can go wrong with any of them. The Genesis may be king of the hill, but there are definitely a ton of games on CD and 32X that are very much worth your time. Check out what we played in September.

On the Genesis, Electronic Arts developed a reputation for solid golf titles that largely endures to this day. The PGA series has long been its signature series, and the variety within the franchise, while not major, was enough to give golf fans more than a steady diet of titles to enjoy. PGA European Tour continued that trend.
Lord Monarch: Tokoton Sentou Densetsu
Fans of the Shining Force series should definitely try out Lord Monarch. Despite the language barrier (there’s help for that online), the game is a solid entry into the strategy genre that is highly reminiscent of Sega’s seminal franchise.
Iron Helix
Looking for a puzzle-solving, sci-fi thriller for your Sega CD? Iron Helix may be your game. Combining the interface of a graphic adventure with full-motion video cut scenes and puzzle elements, the game offers an experience uncommon on the platform. It may not be as deep as later titles, such as “D” and “Enemy Zero,” but it’s definitely worth playing.

As August fades and everyone ends vacation time or gears up for new semesters of high school and college, let us take one last look back at those carefree days and bid them a fond farewell. Soon, the seasons will change, and our lives will go back to their daily routines. Never forget though, that your Sega Genesis is there year round!
