The Genesis homebrew scene is a wonderful opportunity for Sega fans to see new games made for their beloved console. Programmer Matt Phillips is working on a great platformer that will soon be available for purchase on an actual cartridge, and the game is looking awesome. We sat down with Matt to get all the details on his first Genesis homebrew game!
Sega’s Shinobi series is recognized for its greatness on the Genesis, but the Game Gear is home to two excellent entries in the series. The first game features solid gameplay and great presentation, and it captures the essence of what makes the series so popular with fans. This is definitely one to have in your Game Gear library.
Are you a fan of rugby? If so, you might want to check out EA’s Rugby World Cup ’95 on the Genesis. It’s not spectacular, but it does a reasonable job of emulating the sport on the 16-bit hardware. There aren’t a lot of these games on the console, and this one is far from the best. Still, it’s worth spending some time with if you find it at a decent price.
