By now you’ve ripped open all your gifts, and the sink is still strewn with the dirty dishes from the family feast. What’s there left to do? Why play your Genesis, of course! If you’re looking from something to exchange for those unwanted gifts, then maybe you should take a look at Acclaim’s Virtual Bart. I know, I know. Acclaim? A Simpsons game? Such a match usually has its origins in hell, but this one might surprise you, especially if you pick it up on the cheap side.

Daze Before Christmas
Daze Before Christmas is an Australia-only release, a seasonal platformer that Americans missed out on. Being one of the few Christmas-themed titles on the console, there’s obviously some curiosity as to whether or not it’s worth playing. Our full write up has all the details, but you’ll have to get your milk and cookies elsewhere.
Pac-Mania
One of the few video game icons that always finds a way to reinvent himself, Pac-Man has done just about everything but grab a gun and fight terrorists (I think that one’s coming to consoles soon). Namco has always endeavored to bring its hungry yellow mascot to new fans, with the most recent attempt being the simple yet incredible Pac-Man Championship Edition on Xbox Live Arcade. One other incarnation that benefited immensely from a simple gameplay addition was Pac-Mania, which simply altered the gameplay perspective and added a jump button. The result was an arcade hit that was ported to about forty billion systems the galaxy over.
16-Bits of Adventure
Looking for some adventure? Tired of shooters and platformers? Then you might want to take a look at our feature 16-Bits of Adventure, which highlights some of the more interesting adventure games on both the Genesis and the Sega CD. Some of them are great, and some are… not so great, but all are worth looking into. Read the full article and see which ones you might have missed!
Berenstain Bears Camping Adventure
One of the least discusssed areas of the Genesis software library is the children’s section. The console boasts a great number of titles in this area featuring all the major characters of the era, some of which are still popular today. A few games are based on timeless characters, like the Berenstain Bears. For over forty years, the bear family has entertained children in books and on TV. Their one and only Genesis outing was suprisingly competent, and it does a decent job of holding the attention of kids over ten! While not the best platformer on the system, but it’s no stinker either.
