Preview: Rocket Knight

After almost two decades away from the limelight, Konami’s Rocket Knight series blasts back into action in a new game for Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network, and Steam (PC). This new sequel retains the classic 2D gameplay of the previous two games, but it brings a modern coat of paint to the visuals. The “2.5” look marks a new style for the series, and we’ve got a complete preview of it for you to check out before the game hits May 12. Dino Land

Despite all the advancements in game technology, pinball is still a blast to play. The Genesis has its fair share of games in the genre, and some are weirder than others. Take Renovation’s Dinoland, for example. Designed by the famous Wolfteam, it features a little dinosaur who takes ball form to save his girlfriend. Sound far fetched? Well, it’s probably no more odd than a hedgehog pinging around a ball field.

Interview: Matt Furniss (Composer)

Fans of video game music from the ’90s know Matt Furniss’ music well. He scored dozens of games for consoles like the Genesis, Master System, Playstation, and computers like the Amiga and Spectrum. As both composer and converter of game scores, Furniss has a lot of history working with soundtracks from some classic games.

The PC classic Wing Commander made its way to the Sega CD in 1994, and there was some compromises that had to be made in order for Origin Systems to squeeze the game onto Sega’s add-on. It mostly made the transition intact, and it picked up some great audio along the way as well.

Addams Family Values

They’ve been creepy and kooky for decades now, and there have actually been a fair amount of Addams Family games produced for a plethora of platforms. The Genesis received two titles, each based on the movies released in the ’90s. The second game, Addams Family Values, had more of an RPG feel to it than the first one.
