Sega kicked off an incredible franchise with the original Golden Axe, which hacked its way into gamers’ hearts as well as arcades worldwide. The Genesis port is actually superior to the coin-op original, as it has more levels and a great versus mode. This one defines the term “classic” and should be in every Genesis library.

Disney’s Aladdin
Aladdin was released for the Sega Genesis in late 1993 and is a 2D side-scrolling game based on the legendary Disney movie of the same name that was developed by Virgin Interactive and published by Sega. The movie was made famous for its characters, and the game for its breathtaking graphics, which still look amazing today.
Super Hang-On
Super Hang-On was released in 1989 for the Sega Genesis and was one of the first motercycle racing games ever released for that system. It’s a great version of the arcade classic that’s perfectly adapted for the Genesis, and the new original mode adds a ton of replay value to an already great title.
Mickey Mania: The Timeless Adventures of Mickey Mouse (CD)
Mickey Mania was released for the Sega CD during the fall of 1994, developed by Traveler’s Tales and published by Sony Imagesoft. MM is a 2D side-scrolling platform game that chronicles many of Mickey Mouse’s most memorable cartoons. Each and every level in the game is based on a Mickey Mouse cartoon. This game has achieved legendary status by many because of the game’s silky smooth gameplay, rock-solid control, pristine graphics, and sound that is a treat for the ears.
Rocket Knight Adventures
As platformers go, RKA stands tall among the crowd; looking down on most. That’s no mean feat considering the level of quality the Genesis has in this department. Many people made the mistake, however, of casually dismissing the game as another Sonic clone. They could not have been farther from the truth.
