Long before he was racing against all-stars on modern consoles, Sonic was burning rubber and drifting around tracks on the Game Gear. The first Sonic Drift game only saw a release in Japan, but it’s worth tracking down and adding to your library, despite its limited roster and track count.

Premier Manager
Like soccer? Enjoy simulation games? Then we have a combination for you. Premier Manager brings all the excitement of the industry to your Genesis sans the gameplay, presentation, and excitement typically associated with the sport. It’s deep and involving but not overly exciting if you’re used to traditional soccer titles.
Ganbare Gorby!
Sometimes, the weirdest concepts can make for a fun game, and few get weirder than Ganbare Gorby! for the Game Gear. What can one say about a puzzle game where you play as the former Soviet premier Mikhail Gorbachev as he passes out food and items to citizens? Weirdness aside, it’s an entertaining puzzle title worth tracking down.
Virtua Fighter 2 (Saturn)
Sega released a technical marvel with the Saturn version of Virtua Fighter 2. Graphical compromises were made for it to happen, but the gameplay made the transition home intact. AM2 added a ton of great options as well, making this port a must-have for Saturn owners.
Ys The Vanished Omens
The only Ys released on the Master System was a port of the first game, and while it lacks the advanced features of its CD-ROM cousin, it offers an excellent rendition of the classic action/RPG. Adol’s first adventure is one anyone with Sega’s 8-bit machine should play, and it still holds up, even with its somewhat clunky combat.
