On the Genesis, Electronic Arts developed a reputation for solid golf titles that largely endures to this day. The PGA series has long been its signature series, and the variety within the franchise, while not major, was enough to give golf fans more than a steady diet of titles to enjoy. PGA European Tour continued that trend.

Lord Monarch: Tokoton Sentou Densetsu
Fans of the Shining Force series should definitely try out Lord Monarch. Despite the language barrier (there’s help for that online), the game is a solid entry into the strategy genre that is highly reminiscent of Sega’s seminal franchise.
J. League Pro Striker Perfect
Soccer is a sport that’s loved worldwide, and the Genesis is far from lacking in games that let players digitally represent their homelands. Many games are light on options and depth, though, and J. League Pro Striker Perfect is a perfect example of that. The fact that this is the update of a previous game only makes us want to play FIFA or Sensible Soccer more.
Liberty or Death
Koei was the master of the console strategy sim, and there’s one game in its catalog that actually lets players relive the American Revolution. Deep and engaging, the game also requires almost as much time as the war itself did, so those easily intimidated by tons of variables and long, drawn-out conflicts should perhaps just declare themselves conscientious objectors instead.
16t
Sega’s Toshokan modem service in Japan had a few titles that were released here, such as Flicky and Fatal Labyrinth. However, there were quite a few that never came to the west, and 16t is one such title. It has that early ’80s arcade flavor to it, and while there’s not much depth, its simple to play and can be fun for a while.
