Technos has released lots of games in its famous Kunio-kun series, including the famous River City Ransom. There were sports games too, like dodgeball. The Genesis version of the NES dodgeball game isn’t necessarily bad, but it will leave you wishing we’d gotten River City instead.
Genesis Reviews
Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday
Legendary sci-fi hero Buck Rogers found his way onto the Genesis in 1991 thanks to an Electronic Arts port of the classic Gold Box game, Countdown to Doomsday. A few things were lost in translation, but the game made it over in great form overall. If you’re looking for some old school PC RPG action, then this is one game you’ll definitely want to check out.
Marsupilami
Arriving late in the lifespan of the Genesis, Marsupilami is a platformer that’s based on a popular European comic. It tries to mix up the genre by adding in a different type of gameplay mechanic, but it doesn’t always succeed as planned. Even so, it’s very playable and looks great, making it worthy of some attention.
Uwol: Quest for Money
The Genesis has enjoyed quite a lively revival in the past decade, and new games are coming from all over the world. 1985 Alternativo’s port of Uwol: Quest for Money may not be the deepest game out there, but it’s a solid port and a worthy addition to anyone’s Genesis library.
World Class Leaderboard Golf
The Genesis isn’t wanting for golf games, and there are enough around for the average fan to find one that suits a personal preference. U.S. Gold’s World Class Leaderboard Golf is a decent entry into the genre, but it lacks the presentation that could have put it in the upper tier of console golf games. Still if you’re a fan, it’s worth some playtime.
