With all the hockey games on the Genesis, you know there has to be a stinker somewhere. Well fans, let me introduce you to Accolade’s Brett Hull Hockey ’95, which more or less finds a way to get all the important things wrong. A horrible view perspective, annoying announcer, and spotty gameplay are just some of the problems that make this one to keep in the penalty box.
It’s time to exit the pit and regain the pole position! Racing games are a staple of any console’s library, and the Genesis boasts its share of hits and misses. One of the better releases is EA’s Mario Andretti Racing, which offers stock car, F1, and dirt track racing. Football season is here again! There are plenty of NFL and NCAA games to watch, but if you need a bit more pigskin action after all the games, your Genesis has all you’ll ever need. One of the better ones is EA Sports’ College Football USA ’96, and thought it may lack the Bill Walsh license, it has over a hundred teams and solid gameplay. The baseball season’s winding down, and soon we’ll be heading to the Fall Classic. Too bad the word “classic” doesn’t apply to Electronic Arts’ Tony La Russa Baseball. It does absolutely nothing to stand out. That wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t play so darn slow. Compared to other baseball games on the Genesis at the time, it’s not really worth a lot of your time
Full-motion video games are a staple of any Sega CD library. Heck, you seemingly can’t own the add-on without having at least one in your library. Back when Sega was betting the farm on the genre, its TruVideo line was producing titles on a regular basis. Some were decent (Wirehead), and some were Surgical Strike. I know you can’t believe we found another bad FMV game, but at least try to feign surprise. For us, please?
