When you’re a kid, getting a new game console for Christmas is one of the most awesome experiences there is. There’s nothing more exhilarating than rushing to the tree and ripping off the wrapping on that unusually large gift, discovering that your Christmas hopes and prayers were answered! It’s a remarkable feeling that stays with you for a lifetime.
Imagine getting a Sega CD, then! This might not seem like such a big deal today, but back in 1994, it was a huge deal for many kids. Tyler Esposito of the YouTube channel iretrogamer was lucky enough to capture on video his cousin’s odyssey to become two of those kids, and if it doesn’t give you the fuzzy’s then you’re probably a robot.
Check out his cousins Mikey and Manny’s cool story below!
My favorite part is when Manny is asked “what time is it?” He responds with a smile, “it’s Sega CD time!” Now that’s some great stuff!
Check out the rest of Tyler’s excellent My Retro Life series over on his channel.
