In the same year that Braga, a city in the north of Portugal, celebrates being chosen as the European Capital of Youth, there is an event celebrating the 16-bit of power of Sega’s most beloved retro console: the 2012 Sega Mega Drive Tournament!
On the 16th of June, all Sega Mega Drive fans will rejoice as the red LED power indicator will once again shines a light on this challenging event that will gather fans from all over Portugal. If you live in Portugal and you loved the 16-bit era, you can’t miss this chance of relieving this epic of nostalgia . Whether you want to participate in the tournament itself and fight your way up for the chance to take a beautiful Mega Drive 2 home or you just wish to visit the event, the organizing team is making sure everything is in place so you will have a great time.
There is a subscription fee of €5 for all the interested in participating in the event. Subscriptions will be open until the 8th of June 2012. Whether you’re just supporting, cheering or even participating in the tournament, we’re sure it will be a day to remember. This event will take place in Esprominho (Escola Profissional do Minho) and the three best players will leave the tournament with Sega Mega Drive related prizes.
So get ready for the Portuguese Sega Mega event of the month! Kick off in World Cup Italia ’90, speed up through the mazes of Sonic 2, escape first from the dangerous and treacherous “roads” in Micro Machines 2 Turbo Tournament, battle your friends in Street Fighter 2 Special Champion Edition and finish your opponent up with a Mortal Kombat 2 fatality!
